Frequently Asked Questions

Intro

Every Hexlord learns through battle… but sometimes, a shortcut helps.
Below are answers to the most commonly asked questions during play β€” straight from the Codex Council archives.

Movement & Positioning

Q1. Can Hexmasters move through occupied hexes when using Dash or standard movement?
πŸ… No. All movement β€” including Dash β€” must pass through unoccupied hexes only.

Q2. Can Dash be used to leap over enemies or allies?
πŸ… No. Dash is not leap or teleportation. Every hex moved into must be unoccupied.

Q3. Can Blink go through occupied hexes?
πŸ… Yes. Blink is teleportation β€” it ignores what lies between and lands in any open hex within 2.

Edict Interactions & Status Effects

Q4. Does Fortify prevent all effects or just damage?
πŸ… Fortify protects against damage and displacement (e.g. Push, Arcshock). It does not block Silence, Mark, or Drain.

Q5. Can Reclaim be used multiple times on the same Glyphex?
πŸ… Yes, currently. However, this may be revised to prevent recursion loops.

Q6. Does Clone Decoy prevent Silence or non-damaging effects?
πŸ… No. Clone Decoy only blocks damage. It does not prevent status effects or CE manipulation.

Q7. Can Rootstep or Root Trap create multiple rooted hexes?
πŸ… No. Each player may only have one active Rooted Hex at a time. New ones replace the old.

Revival & Sanctum Mechanics

Q8. Can you revive directly on a Sanctum or only adjacent?
πŸ… Both are legal. Revived Hexmasters can be placed on or adjacent to a Sanctum.

Q9. Does a Hexmaster on a Sanctum block the opponent from reviving there?
πŸ… No. Standing on a Sanctum does not prevent the opposing player from reviving beside it.

Q13. When a Hexmaster is revived, is its Class Edict refreshed?
πŸ… No. Class Edicts are once per game. They are not restored by revival.

Edict-Specific Questions

Q10. Can Fortify block Arcshock or Backstab?
πŸ… Yes. Fortify blocks the damage dealt by either Edict. However, the Edict may still be declared.

Q11. Does Arcshock affect allied Hexmasters?
πŸ… No. Arcshock targets enemy units only β€” the main target and adjacent enemies.

Q12. Can Arcshock target an empty hex?
πŸ… No. It must target an enemy Hexmaster. It cannot be used on empty space.

Q14. Can Fortify be used on the same turn as another Edict?
πŸ… No. Each Hexmaster can either move or activate one Edict per turn β€” not both.

Q15. If a Glyphex is removed (downgraded), is it discarded or returned to the Lexicon?
πŸ… It is discarded. Only effects like Reclaim can return it to your draw pool.

Q16. Can a Root Trap be manually removed?
πŸ… No. It remains in play until triggered or replaced. Only one Root Trap per player at a time.

Game-Ending Conditions

Q17. Is the game over the moment a player’s CE reaches 0?
πŸ… No. If a player’s Core Energy drops to 0, the game does NOT end immediately β€” if that player still has 0 CE at the END of any turn, the game ends.
