Rootstep is the Class Edict of the Druid Hexmaster in Hexarion Conquest. It’s a hybrid movement + trap-laying ability that gives the Druid subtle battlefield influence, enabling both retreat and disruption in a single move.
Rootstep – Class Edict (Druid)
Effect:
Move 1 hex, then place a Rooted Hex (trap) on the hex you left.
The trap Roots the first enemy who enters it. It is then removed.
Key Properties:
Attribute | Value |
---|---|
Type | Class Edict (once per game) |
Movement | Move 1 hex (follows normal pathing rules) |
Trap Placement | Leaves a Root Trap behind on the original space |
Trap Effect | First enemy to enter becomes Rooted (cannot move next turn) |
Trap Limit | You may have only one Rooted Hex on the board at a time |
Duration | Until triggered or replaced by a new Rootstep/Root Trap |
CE Cost | ❌ None — free to use |
Usable Unattuned? | ✅ Yes — like all Class Edicts |
Tactical Uses:
- Block enemy approach paths
- Cover your retreat while staying aggressive
- Punish fast movers (Rogue, Warrior, etc.)
- Pair with zone control or pressure from allies (e.g. Mage Arcshock follow-up)
Usage Notes:
- Once activated, flip the Focalis ring to its blank side — Rootstep is spent
- The trap is removed as soon as it’s triggered or replaced
Rootstep does not appear on any Glyphex, because it is a Class Edict, not a Variable Edict.
Rootstep – Druid Class Edict
Attribute | Value |
---|---|
Source | Druid Hexmaster |
Type | Class Edict (once per game) |
Appears on Glyphexes? | ❌ No |
Reusable? | ❌ No — one-time use |
CE Cost | ❌ None |
Quick Recap:
- Class Edicts like Rootstep are:
- Exclusive to each Hexmaster class
- Activated via the Focalis ring
- Useable even while Unattuned
- Not part of the Variable Edict pool
- Never included in a Glyphex’s 6-edict set
So while Glyphexes like Tempestroot or Tanglegrip may include Root Trap (the trap-laying Variable Edict), only the Druid can use Rootstep.
